Derek Yee

MSW, BA. Registered Social Worker #2275. (he/him)

Derek has been a practicing therapist for the past 18 years. Over the course of his career, one of the most important valuable insights he’s gained is that the best predictor of a positive therapeutic outcomes is the quality of the connection created within the session. Derek prides himself on making sure that each client leaves a session with either a new perspective or a practical strategy to try-often both.

His work primarily focuses on individuals dealing with anger, depression, and anxiety. Derek has a particular skill in connecting with young people who are typically hard to engage in therapy. He is a trained hypnotherapist and often integrates humour into his approach as a way to navigate complex and challenging emotions. Sessions with Derek may include both laughter and tears, as he helps clients process difficult experiences in a safe environment.

Derek prides himself on being available and committed to his clients, and considers it a privilege to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds and across all stages of life. He approaches this work with respect and a strong sense of responsibility.
