Favourite Quote: “We don’t see things as they are, we see them as we are.” – Anaïs Nin

Andrew prioritizes empathy and client-centered care in therapy, seeking to collaboratively develop a personalized care plan that will work for each individual client. He empathizes relationship-building in a therapeutic context to encourage sharing of emotions and experiences to uncover issues, discuss the root and history of the problem, and move towards solutions.

Andrew’s practice experience has included work in the areas of mental health (such as depression, anxiety, stress, and personality and mood disorders) and physical health (such as chronic pain, physical disability, and HIV/AIDS and other sexually-transmitted and blood-borne infections). He is also very comfortable working with people who identify across the spectrums of gender and sexuality and who may have varying relationship styles such as monogamy, non-monogamy, and polyamory, and other relationship styles. He also has expertise in substance use harm reduction and addictions counselling.

With over a decade in social work practice in Canada and internationally, Andrew has worked with individuals and people in intimate relationships (including couples) in the context of trauma, attachment, adjustment, and communication. He regularly employs approaches such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, and Emotion-Focused Therapy, alongside other modalities.

With an anti-oppressive orientation to practice, Andrew seeks to help his clients frame their experiences within society’s structures and systems and identify how to move forward.
