Canadian Certified Counsellor

Jenny holds a Master of Arts in Counselling Degree. She genuinely likes people, hearing each person’s story and sharing in their struggles. Jenny is passionate about providing high quality therapeutic and professional care that will help you find solutions, while encouraging your innate strengths and resiliency. Jenny works creatively to support her clients in understanding their inner world and emotions; this includes developing practical skills and coping strategies like mindfulness and relationship building.

Jenny has been working with families, couples, children, youth, and young adults for over 20 years. She respects the distinctive aspects of each developmental stage and season of life. Jenny’s work with families is primarily in the areas of couples counselling and children. When working with couples, Jenny’s approach is collaborative, helping to strengthen and heal the relationship. Every committed relationship is unique and each couple’s experience and vision for the relationship must be honoured. Advocating for both partners, Jenny uses principles and practical skills from the Gottman Method to help communicate needs, work through persistent problems, and experience meaningful connection.

In working with children, Jenny uses creativity and play methods to build trust and connection through fun! She enjoys helping children grow in awareness of feelings and emotions and age-appropriate relationship skills. Parents are invaluable in a child’s life and therefore, Jenny collaborates with them. Jenny is always amazed at the wisdom each child holds. Assisting those who experience grief is an area close to Jenny’s heart. She recognizes every individual experiences and expresses grief in their own way, which can be shaped by their culture, beliefs, and their relationship to their loss.

Jenny draws on a variety of evidence based psychological approaches as most fitting for each person(s). She is trained in Narrative Therapy and Gottman Method, and uses Self-Compassion, the psychology of emotion, attachment theory, Solution Focused Brief Therapy, and mindfulness approaches. Jenny is a Certified Canadian Counsellor (CCC) with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA). She sees clients in person and is fluent in phone and virtual counselling.
